Production update 2021-08-14

Hello!

It's been a long time again. This time, though, I have news!

So, two weeks ago, I was on a vacation trip with my girlfriend. We visited Quebec City and the Saguenay region. I have a few pictures of the trip!

We visited friends and family we hadn't seen in two years or more, I visited Quebec City, Chicoutimi, La Baie and Alma like a tourist, something I've never really done before. We walked a ton, viewed nice views, went to the water slides, played golf twice, visited some expositions and museums, and we enjoyed ourselves. It was a great week!

Back home, I did take a little bit to find my stride again, but I managed to do it. I started by finishing to watch and analyze every single ABC video I am going to cover in Part 2, which took a while by itself, and then I tackled the script, which I had left in a pretty poor state with multiple unfinished paragraphs all over the place.

There was one part specifically, one glitch explanation, that I got stuck on for a very long time. The resulting explanation is the longest single explanation I've ever had to write (even longer than Zelda 1 screen scrolling!). It's very complex and has many layers, but it's so pivotal that I couldn't gloss over it. I did finally get it done after many hours of writing and rewriting and rereading and thinking and moving paragraphs and "no I need to say this before I introduce that" and "wait I forgot to talk about this thing" and lots, lots of hair pulling.

Once that was done with, I figured the rest of the script would be easy cruising. Oh boy was I wrong. There wasn't that much complicated stuff to explain, but the content was just so varied and dense. Nonetheless, I pushed through and explained all the improvements one by one. Some were very short, some took a whole page. And I finished all of it today. I looked back, and...

That is Part 2 of the script. 9,176 words, 14 pages long. That beats Zelda 1 and is now the single longest script I've ever written. And that is Part 2 ALONE!

So, yeah. The video will be long, but it will be a good one. Thankfully, this time, I honestly think that the editing will be relatively easy to do, but of course, when I say that, I always end up eating my words.

I submitted the script to my crew of helpers, and I'm awaiting their verdict to see if I need to change anything. I most likely have a few factual errors and various mistakes about game mechanics that I need to correct. I will most likely begin recording on Monday.
