Production update 2020-10-19
Added 2020-10-19 16:36:48 +0000 UTCHello,
So, my audio cable is on its way, which means music will finally become a real thing in the next couple of days. I'm excited to try and put it on some footage and see how that feels!
Here's a quick rundown: I finished the whole script for Part 1, and recording is still about 20% done. I also started editing but with no music, I was a bit cautious. Some new pieces of the puzzle from 2011 were brought to my attention but it didn't change the whole picture much.
But I actually have something else to talk about. As of this morning, the big project is on the sidelines. My next video will not be Part 1.
Remember back when I started working on SMB3, I said this:
I've got many projects lined up for the future and I'm excited about them. One of them, I'm not going to reveal just yet, but it is a Speedrun Explained of an RTA world record speedrun, in a game I haven't covered yet (and not SMB2-J either). The thing is, it's about a time that will most likely happen soon, but hasn't happened yet. I am in the process of preparing as much stuff as I can before I have an actual run in my hands, and then I'll put the project on the shelves until the run happens. When it finally does, I'll fast-track it to get the video out within the month.
Well, last night, the run happened! This means I can also reveal what the run in question is: The Legend of Zelda Any% No Up+A in 27:57 by LackAttack24! Here's the video!
So, there it is. This is what I'm working on now. I'm hoping that I can get the video out in a month, but as always, expectations and reality can be different. I'm very excited to work on this though, and I really wanna put in all the work I can.
The structure of it will be slightly different than my previous speedrun explained videos. It will still be a linear progression through the run, but when entering each dungeon, a rundown of the dungeon will be presented so that viewers will know in advance what he's trying to accomplish, rather than my usual "see first, ask questions later" approach. I think it makes more sense in this case. All the tricks and glitches will be presented the same way they always have been, by playing the run first and then going back and explaining the funky stuff that just happened.
Anyway, today I'll be hard at work producing a script as thorough and complete as it can be. I'm thinking the whole video will probably be somewhere around 50 to 55 minutes due to the sheer length of the run. Very few things can be fast-forwarded through (if any), and the run itself is nearly half an hour, so the video will be a very minimum of 45 minutes, but I wouldn't even be surprised if it ran past the hour mark. There aren't that many glitches and crazy things to explain, but I will need to take some time to point out just how crazy good Lack is at the game.
I hope this is exciting news for everyone. I'll be honest, my motivation wasn't at a very high point these days, but this just lit a fire under my ass, so this really is great news in that regard!
I hope you guys have a great week. I'll post an update when the script is complete, so that might be before next Monday. See you then!
