Production update 2020-08-16

Hello everyone!

The SMB3 video is doing pretty great! It was sitting at 2/10 on my 10 most recent video releases in views after x time since release, and it was overtaken just today by the DK64 TAS explained video. Obviously, the top spot is the SM64 TAS, that one had major success immediately so it's no surprise. The first two SMB1 videos are not included in that list.

Anyway, I've been working on Kosmic's MMM videos and writing the script for the Credits Warp explained followup video, and I am happy to say, although it does need to be run by a couple of people, the Credits Warp script is DONE! The script is a lot shorter than usual (4 pages, compared to 9-12 for a typical video) but it is about as packed with technical stuff as the OoT videos, so it's good to keep it short.

That being said, I won't start recording right away. In the next few days, I'll be working on finishing up Kosmic's MMM videos (part 3 and 4), and I also need to install the sound foam panels on my walls. I ordered some strips to hang them up on the wall and I should be getting them today. So right now, we're sitting at:

• Script 100% done
• Recording 0% done
• Editing 0% done

But! I also did something else that's gonna be key for the rest of the process: I recreated Zikubi's run near-frame perfectly. It is tied to the frame almost everywhere, and in all of the key points of the run, to Zikubi's run. I will use that to show variables and other internal values while the credits warp setup is going on, hopefully for some sick visuals!

Dotsarecool/IsoFrieze made a video on his Retro Game Mechanics Explained channel where he explained in a great deal of detail what happens behind the scenes for the wrong warp. This has been an amazing resource for my research, but I also had to be careful not to straight up copy his work and make an identical video. So, I'm running the script by him to make sure everything sits well with him and I'm not stepping on any toes.

Anyway, I'm taking Wednesday and Thursday off this week so I'm thinking recording will be finished by Tuesday at the earliest, and Saturday at the latest. Since this video will be about 12-15 minutes long, I'm thinking I should be able to get it out before the end of the month! Also, the apartment tour I promised a long time ago should finally be coming, either tomorrow or Tuesday.

I also want to thank all the new patrons. I'm glad you've been enjoying my content enough to start contributing. And, again, thanks to all the old patrons as well! I'm especially thankful that nearly every single one of you has stuck with me through difficult times, both in the channel and in everybody's lives. Since I moved, obviously, my expenses went way up compared to before, and you guys are literally the difference between not being able to sustain this and being able to do it. So, I want to thank everyone for believing in me.
