January announcements
Added 2024-01-19 16:00:08 +0000 UTCHi all!
At the start of every year going through Easter, I like to read through a gospel. This year, I thought I might share that journey, posting thoughts and comments on the readings once a week in lieu of a monthly newsletter. (Those on the letter tier will receive one letter a month compiled from the best of the writings.)
My approach to scripture reading is non-denominational, faith-curious, inquisitive, and possibly heretical. Origen describes the gospel as a "sojourn with men" [read: humans] of the divine spirit. I think that that sojourn is one that is happening all the time, and I seek to remember, understand, and interpret that through scripture. I always see new things when I reread, and am excited to hear new ideas and questions from you.
Here's my schedule:
(week of) Jan 14: Mark 1 (post reflecting on this reading will be shared at the start of the following week, and so on)
Jan 21: Mark 2-3
Jan 28: Mark 4
Feb 4: Mark 5-6
Feb 11: Mark 7-8
Feb 18: Mark 9
Feb 25: Mark 10
Mar 3: Mark 11-12
Mar 10: Mark 13
Mar 17: Mark 14
Mar 24: Mark 15
Mar 31: Mark 16
Other things:
Our archive sunday stream will take place January 25th at 1 PST. I'll do my solo stream on January 26 at 4 PST. I think this will just be a "car seat classics" stream, to break easily into the new year. Not sure about the band's delight stream, but it will be sometime in the next week.
Catch you soon!
Comments
Hey, this is unrelated, but I just wanted to ask about the Discord. I only recently became a patron and I guess I was expecting there to be a bit more stuff in the discord? I’m not sure if there was at one point, I can see an older message in announcements about wanting to set more stuff up but needing moderation, and then there’s a message from December about “hackers” but I don’t know what exactly this is referring to. Anyway just some clarity on the topic of the Discord and what it’s gonna look like in future would be great.

2024-01-19 16:14:12 +0000 UTCsuch a good idea, might read along with you!! my approach is usually reading books about scripture or written by reverends on their perspectives- but i’ve been looking to break the ice on starting to read scripture for itself
