You hit the nail on the head with how Date won this match. Ippo was not only physically stronger and faster than him, he had beaten other boxers that were physically better as well. At least 70% of Date's winning strategy was experience and mind games. If Ippo hadn't been drawn in and started hesitating, then he would have won the fight for sure. This is one of the most emotional fights in the series. I can't help tearing up every time I see that last down before the fight was over. The sheer tenacity, willpower and faith in the coach that he showed in that last round was indescribable; he pushed far beyond his limits to get as far as he did.
