I love their stuff! The persona CJ affects in their videos is striking and memorable, but it can also be abrasive and sometimes off-putting (intentionally, I get the vibe). How is their online persona different from their RL self, if at all, and how do they decide the manner in which to approach a given topic?

2024-04-12 17:19:16 +0000 UTCSeeing as you both started with analysis of pop culture (my first exposure to CJ's videos were on Marnie and Tangled) and have given more weight to the theoretical stuff over time (aesthetics and now the JP project in CJ's case, you with sociology as well as critical theory), I'm curious as to what that process looked like. Is it a matter of your intellectual interests developing? Did you feel constrained by the former type of video essay? Anyway, would love for you guys to just talk about philosophy tbh I'm thrilled this is happening.
