Well... (upd8)

Yeah. It's going well... I guess...

I'm in the beginning stages of writing the script... well, I've outlined the whole script, have all the research done, now I just have to write it. I'm planning some whacky stuff for the new video so be prepared. It's on Hannah Montana and how we live in a society, etc. I expect an upload in late Feb or early March...

It's taken longer than expected... It's days like this I wish I could just react to TikToks. Instead, there is a stack of books on my desk that I barely understand. I've also been panic-applying to programs after I got rejected from some other applications. It's starting to feel pointless to spend months applying to these programs, getting decently far into the application process, preparing for interviews, arguing my case to committees about how I think YouTube content has something to offer the world, only to get rejected over and over, when I could just be doing the things I want to on YouTube instead of writing applications hypothesizing about the things I could do. I guess I just have one foot in the academic world and one in the YouTube world, and I haven't learned to do the splits...

And I burnt the roof of my mouth while eating a pizza. God damn it.

I will be mailing some thank yous today or tomorrow hopefully. Sorry for the delay.

I know the pains of rejection. It's been a hard couple of years in this awful job market and it's definitely hard getting rejected over and over again while also wanting to create/work on your own. Take all the time you need, Alex. We appreciate you and your work and your health and wellbeing is important.

IMO take your time, we don't want another wonderful yt creator to burn out.

I spent 2 years applying for social science Ph.D. Programs and being told I was “runner up, runner up, runner up.” It is frustrating. Academia is very behind the times on the technology front, and most professors want to invest in what they know will bring them in grant money so THEIR job isn’t on the line. Also, unfortunately, a lot of social science grad school interviews are popularity contests. I once lost my spot because the Pottermore quiz sorted me into Slytherin and “we’re ALL HUFFLEPUFFS here.” Don’t take things personally. You are clearly passionate and a great science communicator and entertainer. Whatever you decide to do, we’ll be here to support you! :)
