anyways,
I had an idea… after receiving so many responses to the OFMD call for submissions, I thought… maybe we could expand this. maybe we could build an archive of our different experiences with media, an archive with stories of the special relationship queer people have with media. People documenting the different shows and movies they have become attatched to or disconnected with because of queerness… and use this archive to construct a type of a GLAAD style report that’s on the Qualitative side.

Thiiiissss. Growing up, it wasn't safe for me to come out and find queer community with the people physically around me. So I turned to the internet and it was the characters on my screen and my tumblr mutuals who taught me I *did* have a place in this world and I *would* be alright

Popular and accessible media like fanfiction and short films became SO incredibly important to me, being able to finally see myself anywhere else in the world besides solely in the vacuum of my own imagination. Social media was important too in being able to connect with queer peers across the world. Living in this century is pretty damn cool
