The opening sequence with the shooting is to show how the media has been radicalizing people. That quote Frenchie said about dying twice is similar to the quote Dr. Hiruluk said to Chopper lol. I think Homelander was actually on board with Becca's idea, but then Stormfront probably influenced him.
