I have been procrastinating episodes because I had that hesitancy that only comes from knowing something you’ve adored will only have so many slices, and so many chances to hear them for the first time, left! So I say with utmost sincerity, thank you for sharing this. It’s lovely to know that, while this specific odyssey will come to an end, there is still much to explore - and it makes perfect sense that you’re continuing to do so in such a rich world! I hope this also takes the pressure off of you somewhat as it’s no doubt impossible to craft what everyone will consider as a perfect landing and please everyone, especially when you have more in mind to come. Thank you for the journey so far, and best of luck on the journey to come!

Thank you for sharing this. From listening to the Malevolent commentary I know how much you love changing things up and not doing formats and story beats in repetition. The ending of Malevolent Series 1 will be incredibly bittersweet for me (and probably devastating, even if there is a happy ending it rarely comes without great sacrifice in the horror genre.) As someone who's fallen in love with plenty of stories that have been cut down midway, or gone on so long it's a mere shell of its former self, I am glad we will get an ending. I think no matter what, Malevolent as we know it will end. And no matter what I would have been extremely interested to see what you did next! Although it was brief I LOVED Tales from the Dark World. We got to spend very little time there in S6, so it was great fun exploring the environment more. It's such a relief to know that we will be exploring this world/universe more, even if our time with Arthur and John may be over. Regardless, thank you. Thank you so much Harlan for sticking through it for six seasons, and bringing us a beautiful story about horror, monsters, and mistakes so terrible there seems to be no way to move past it. And about hope, and that despite seemingly unforgivable things you may have done, you can still try to do better. Become better, improve, grow, and just maybe have hope for a better tomorrow. I think above all else, that message sticks with me. You have my gratitude.

Hiiii so I procrastinated watching this because I was so stressed and worried to face my favorite series ending. And now, having watched it, I just wanted to say thanks for making it feel so much less stressful and scary. I'm so excited to see whatever you come up with next. My respect and admiration for you have just only deepened. It means a lot that you shared what you did here, and brought some calm to the emotions that have been building toward the end of S6. It was especially important (at least to me) to hear that you think of us more than a source of living expense (although quite understandable), and not 'string us along' as you said.

I've only been listening to this podcast for two weeks. Binged the whole thing in every ounce of free time that I had and even in that time, I've grown really attached to John and Arthur and the rest of the periphery. I ugly cried in part 56, because I know firsthand how they feel. I'm glad everything will be okay(ish). You made me cry and I DO NOT cry. But thank you for this announcement and everything you've given us. You've stayed true to these characters and having listened to this story so, SO, many times (I quote along with the boys) I love seeing the how the story and your talent has progressed. Your work is exceptional. It has an aura of darkness but shows us that darkness isn't always bad and light that isnt always good. The characters are flawled or broken or downright monstrous or all of the above but also lovable. You have inspired me to keep writing when I wanted to give up many, many times. I hope to achieve a tenth of what you've shared with the world. I am ecstatic for Series 2 and am impatiently waiting along with everyone else. Also, Harlan, I'm sending you my therapy bills because of that ending I refuse to accept happened.

I think it was a really good choice to announce this like this both for all the reasons you outlined, and also because that "grief period" between projects can really have fanbases lose steam. I've seen with a couple other podcasts I love when the first series ends and people think it's The End, the sequel series just doesn't get as much love since people already had said goodbye to that world. (Which isn't a criticism of any of these shows, it's just a pattern I've noticed.)

Knowing the end of Malevolent is coming has been bittersweet. As a writer and as a reader, I enjoy when stories end, and when the endings feel good, and this story and these characters have meant to much to me. This podcast and Arthur is actually what made me finally decide to learn piano after years of thinking it was too late for me. Harlan. I’m not sure Arthur’s death has really fully sunk in for me yet, I’ve attached to him so deeply that as dramatic as it may sound I have felt my very foundations quake. I listened to part 280 when it dropped live and have since then been having what I can only describe as a panic attack and quite frankly I have had no idea what could have possibly made me feel better The fact that you took the time to sit us down and relieve some of the pressure is much appreciated, knowing that you’re not done with this world, these characters, is comforting and I may actually be able to sleep now I don’t know how I’ll survive this coming week with the prospect that Arthur won’t be there to greet me next part but hell that’s what you get for good writing I suppose Absolutely wrecking thousands of people on the internet I can only hope I’ll one day make something that makes me feel half the anguish I feel at this moment
