FromSoftware's Good Grace (The Jimquisition)

Elden Ring has been a ludicrous success, but has that success come at a heavy cost? It's hard to know, because anybody daring to criticize FromSoftware lately is at risk of unleashing hordes of angry fans upon themselves.

You do however get HR departments highlighting the existence of such pages when the numbers aren’t looking great. They obviously can’t set up compensation or anything for reviews, but it only take a couple of hits to “set the record straight”.

I don't have a dog in the fight on this one. I like From's output, I haven't played Elden Ring yet hell I haven't finished Sekiro... I just look at ten year old reviews and such and I'm like "so no one has been mad enough since to go blast them?" and see it as a good indicator.

My only problem with company rating websites is that an angry ex-employee (or current) is so much more likely to seek out that website as an avenue to blast a company than a happy employee who has no reason to go outside the company to talk about it. Everything's great, they just wanna keep making games. Not to say that's the situation here, but I always take sites like Glass Door with... not a grain of salt so much as an understanding of the curve and try to read individual accounts to get a sense of what the problem is.

I remember watching you on the Escapist and yes, you have changed and improved a lot in your presentation and elocution. I hope you keep those old videos to show how much you've changed.

I've had people go into half hour plus tantrums at me for saying I don't, and don't plan to, play the game. I've been harped at for NOT BOTHERING. This is the fan base. Fortunately for me, 20+years of customer service have made me bulletproof, but seriously what is this nonsense lately? People gotta have their consoles and stuff taken away a week or so each month, geez.

I doubt it.

Good work again - and you've outdone yourself on the location. I noticed a comment on YouTube from someone who was Japanese (I think) - referring to the Salaryman culture - Japan's special brand of "work your life away for corporations for a pension and some health insurance" - and it's likely to affect FromSoft as well. I think the ironic and sad thing is that people defending their favourite developers are doing so because they don't want to be reminded their escape from the same world is produced in part from the culture that is making escape into games attractive.

One day, Gamers(tm) will finally realize that arguing employer abuse is "totally okay tho" hurts them and makes their life worse.
