Sometimes, feedback can be just plain weird, especially when that feedback takes the form of angry protests against covering industry abuse.
Shoot the messenger, ALWAYS shoot the messenger. Someone has to hold the line against the BS the industry pulls, and we even get fabulous entertainment as a bonus.

I am a massive fan of continuing to call these things out. Its a part of games media as much as the games are. And there are plenty of game reviews out there. Thanks James Stephanie!

I know it's a minor point and completely irrelevant, but that one prat that was demanding Steph to apologize to Ubisoft, they managed to misspell "apology" so badly that I completely expecting that the person was demanding that Steph owes Apogee to Ubisoft. As in the Apogee that made Rise of the Triad, Bio Menace, and Duke Nukem. And, that idea just positively tickles me.

I don't think we need to worry too much about the opinions of people who don't want to be reminded of persistent abuses
as it ruins their video games. Keep doing what you do Steph.

Probably a distraction from the pervasive sexual assaults and more at ubisoft.

Thanks for everything you do, Steph. The last time I bought a video game when it was released was one through Kickstarter. Yes, they did everything they said they were going to do and more so no regrets. I still play it years later. I'm so sick of what the industry is doing that I don't want to support them again. Keep spreading the news!

I stopped playing video games five and a half years ago for reasons other than ethics.
I support this content because I bought into yearly franchises, preordering, map packs, weapon skins, other cosmetics and loot boxes in my gaming years.
Knowing what I know now, the cognitive dissonance should I start gaming again would tear me apart spiritually, emotionally, financially and eventually physically.
I do thank God for you; you help my recovery. Please keep up your important and good work!

As someone who bangs on every week about the need for police abolition and constantly informs my small audience about atrocities that cops perpetuate, I sympathize with your frustration very much. It gets exhausting not only pointing at the thing, but watching as nothing happens year after year with the thing, and listening to some apathetic individuals say 'please stop talking about the thing, it is depressing'.
I thank god for you, Sterling. Keep doing what you do.

Another fantastic video! 😃 Thank you for continuing to highlight the systemic problems in the gaming industry James Stephanie. 🙂

Everything youve dealt with is strangely similar to being vegan and trying to show the world the atrocities. Funny how that goes...Sorry you have to out up with it though but at least the hate fuels you forward!

Following this video I saw that R6 Siege is getting a new character - the first Trans character on the roster. Is this a meaningful attempt at inclusion, or performative 'wokeness' from a company that is not exactly one of Jimbo Jimmy Girlie's favourites?

Ehhh. Internet vegan behavior is uniformly awful, in my experience. I agree with everything else, tho. :P

I think part of the reason some of the gamersTM feel the need to complain so vocally about you continuously reminding people of the abuses in the industry, is cognitive dissonance. Deep down, they know you're right. But admitting that you're right is too hard, because they might have to think about their behaviour or purchasing decisions, so their only way out of that dissonance is to lash out against you. They can't let it go quietly and simply disengage with the content, because the dissonance would stay if they did that.
It's a bit like people lashing out against vegans because they don't want to confront that they might have a point.

I feel the need to apologize for them to you. People as a general whole, particularly with limited agency, tend to be not great people.

This feels like a good state of things. There is a lot of this episode feels like a good reminder of why Jimquistion is one of the few gaming related things I never stop watching. Why I will continue to keep watching. Both you and Justin do such a great job and make it a joy to watch every week. Laura also does a great job of captioning. Shout out for the non verbal caption, always are the best.

Jim, firstly, thank God for YOU! Secondly, there are really two pieces to this issue and that might be why people are not as fired up as they should be. I was a software developer for my entire career (not for a gaming company, I am retired now) and things like 'crunch' were part of the job. Mind you, I am not saying it's right. At one point, I had a boss who would declare 'mandatory Saturdays' at the start of any project, because he'd get lotsa brownie points if he delivered early. It enraged me, because overtime was unpaid. Again, part of the job. Thing is, people who do not do that job think it's easy. Hey, you just sit there and type into the computer all day. That's not hard work. So do a few more hours. It's even worse for game developers, because some people act like those folks get to go into a big room and play with the swords. Coding is hard. It's exhausting. It's stressful. And most of all it's not fun. But folks don't GET it and that's why they think crunch is no big deal. Now we're adding 'sexual abuse' to the mix...and let me add, I got hit on more times than I can count. The 'boys club' has always been strong. Again, I am not saying it's right. It's evil and always has been. But it's just all lumped together in people's minds like 'it is part of the job'. ALL workplace abuses are wrong. They need to be stopped. I am not a fan of unions, but if any trade needs them, it's 'software development'.

What a bunch of muppets ay, the stuff is awful to hear but we need to be aware of this so we can burn it out like the cancer it is, on not only the game industry, but society as a whole

Jim, calling these people worms is unwarranted and out of line. Worms serve a very useful purpose in aerating and reinvigorating soil, and we depend on them to grow vegetables.

It is notable that none of these meffs ever attempt to deny or defend any of the allegations or injustices... just that you shouldn't point it out.

The gamers (tm) have always been hateful whiners who are only satisfied when their needs and wants are met - we’ve seen so many examples of their awfulness, whether it’s whining and tantrums over delays and shooting the messenger, or defending their favourite corporation because it’s so wrapped up in their own identity and self-worth, and the only salvation for them is to ignore the bad stuff. I for one am glad someone says what has to be said because too many others won’t. Thank god for you.

That pop at DS9 was so unnecessary! The whole email was unnecessary, but where the hell did that come from?

There were periods where I stopped watching particular videos you did about ubisoft's abuse, but for me, it came down to a lack of overall interest in the company.
I hear about corporate greed and abuse so much that when its focused on one company I don't care about for too long I just get kinda bored with the subject. Nothing to unsubscribe or rage over though.

Please do keep on bringing up the rot. It's so important to have someone who does that. I've been working in the localisation part of the video games industry for close to a decade, and while I've never been harassed, I've seen enough bs to know the rose-tinted glasses some people have on really could do with a good stepping on.
