Have someone work to rise up on the inside, while someone on the outside takes out the top of Britannia's government. If you can clear out the corrupt upper class, and have good leaders rise up to fill the place would've been perfect.

Especially in the case of Brittania being in power for so long. No country, that has spent that long in expanding their empire, is just going to give it up and be equals to everyone else.
