Blizzard Is Pathetic (The Jimquisition)

Blizzard went out of its way to make sure Blizzcon was marked by two major game announcements and sorrowful contrition. To anybody paying attention, it was really marked by insincerity and cowardice.

The company is a big pile of toss, and no amount of Diablo 4 or Overwatch 2 will actually change that. These game announcements are wallpaper over the cracks in Blizzard's facade, and we ought not forget it.

As a former farmville and candy crush player, who refused to do the microtransactions... can confirm, we were not having fun, we were succeeding out of pure spite and boredom.

I'm pretty sure the people cheering Blizzard weren't the same ones that were booing them a year ago, those people likely didn't bother coming back to Blizzcon, why on earth would they?

I was driving my dad around to the bank and such listening to this and he was getting agitated hearing you call Blizzard shit over and over that he broke in his annoyance and called you a Blizzard. LOL. Dad is pushing 80 and doesn’t know about video games at all so maybe he was thinking of the tasty treat from Dairy Queen was being dissed? It was both strange and hilarious so thanks for that.

Harsh, yes.... but well deserved. Keep hitting hard, Jim. And often. Side note: Diablo 4 looks like more samey bullshyte, and Overwatch 2 literally looks like DLC for the first game. Glad they haven't seen a penny out of me since before they joined up with Activision.

I still think purely cosmetic microtransactions are less egregious than ones that directly influence game-play. I would prefer that, like all microtransactions, they remain the purview of strictly free-to-play games, and I think that adding them to a typical lootbox system (with the likelihood of getting the same item multiple times in pursuit of what one actually wants) definitely smacks of dicking around those more subject to compulsive behavior. But I'm neither obliged nor required to make it an all-or-nothing stance. Oh, and as I was one of the people back in the Escapist days commenting that people compulsively playing games like Farmville might be as invested as those playing "real" games, but that having observed them, I would not argue that they were actually having "fun" doing so... Arguably I beat you to the foundation of the "this profit-motivated trend exploits players and is not actually okay" argument, so, nyeah nyeah. Okay, so there's my quota of smug contrarianism for the day.

And that is why I support your channel. Well done once again.

They usually get captions/subtitles up a few hours after it's launched and he notifies people on Twitter when they go live. Must be slow today.

Hey Jim, I just wanted to give a "thank god for you" and a question. Great video today, I really appreciate your coverage of Blizzard being shit because I was incredibly nauseated by the turnabout most outlets have done to promote the company since they recently announced some games they might like. One of their favorite justifications is that old canard "we can't punish the devs for what the bigwigs decide." I am wondering if you have any opinions on this aspect of the situation since it was not something you really touched on in the video? Thanks again for the excellent work.

I love your videos! Just a question, though, as I’m getting hard of hearing these days or sometimes I’m watching in an area with a lot of noise, is it possible to hire a captionist/transcriptionist to properly subtitle the videos?
