I’m watching along with you because I think the ride will be more fun. I think the reason this series is so compelling and the gore justifiable is because the protagonist is such an empathetic person. He cares for the people he was charged to protect. He loves his sister and we are shown all of this not just told. When he cuts off a head or figures out an opponent there’s a catharsis to go along with it. The kill feels earned and his success feels good. Regarding the villain...he’s damn frightening. When the swamp demon said something about uttering his name would lead to his death I thought he meant he had a way of finding out some one snitched...not that it would trigger demonic arms to sprout out of his body. Lastly, did you catch his “human” alias? He goes by tsukihiko which I’m assuming (I can’t read kanji or know how his particular name is written) means Moon Prince. What a diva! It could be a reference to MJ’s Moonwalker transformation.

2019-07-19 03:38:22 +0000 UTCI didn't know this anime was pretty recent, and it has a ton of great reviews. The manga is pretty far ahead it seems (numerically speaking), there won't be fillers or slow pacing for a while it seems :) I guess I should give it a try.
