Children Of Morta - A Family Jewel (Jimpressions)
Added 2019-10-17 17:15:14 +0000 UTCA truly excellent game, Children of Morta is like a checklist of my favorite things. Hack n' slash gameplay, dungeon crawling, roguelike elements, constant rewards, charming narrative, gorgeous visuals. Children of Morta has what I need.

Why am I not playing it? Because I finished it ages ago after I seing it randomly on gog on its release day. :P And it was brilliant. I especially appreciated how the levelling system fits the family theme, where improving one character improves the whole group. The animation is stunning. The characters are surprisingly balanced, as I often heard from others how great characters are that I was absolutely shit it, and conversely how useless characters are that I blew everything up with easily. Really hammers home how different the playstyles are between them. But really, almost everything about it was great. The only flaw it has is that there's not more of it. I want to play more, but there's no new game plus content and I didn't really have the feeling I missed too much optional content either. Of course, there is something to be said for a short, finite experience that doesn't want to devour all your time, but I just liked it so much that I want more of it. Here's hoping for some story DLC. :P I'll likely go back to it once one of my friends finally decides to pick it up. Have not tried the coop yet.
