Contra: Rogue Corps - Fucking Embarrassing (Jimpressions)
Added 2019-09-25 15:07:13 +0000 UTCIt's almost impressive just how wrong this game is. As a Contra game, Rogue Corps almost goes out of its way to be completely inept. As a general shooter, its sub-par in every way.
Slow, repetitive, and ugly as hell, Contra: Rogue Corps is embarrassing even by Konami's low standards, and this is all before we get to the weapons overheating.
Because weapons overheat in this game. This Contra game.

You are not wrong. This is a side effect of game companies trying to sell mathematically created games rather than games created with joy in mind. A large portion of the current game industry is run by people doing research and collecting data. Finding out what people like, and trying to incorporate as much of it as possible in one game. They think "52% of men age 18-25 like Process A, while only 44% of men age 26-32 like Process B. 88% of female gamers between 18-25 also like Process B, while Process A is almost completely disliked. (more math) The largest margin of players between the two categories still leaves Process A ahead by 3%, so we should implement that into the game as this would be the most profitable."

I feel like the ACTUAL point of making these assets and gameplay was to have it as graphics for a pachinko or slots game and they decided "hey! we can also cross sell this as a standalone game and make even more monies !!!" This game also reminds me of the output of an A.I. after it is fed a bunch of info and then asked to create something like what it learned. Sort of a "We fed footage of 100 popular shooting games and this is what it created!"
