Control - Secure, Contain, Protect (Jimpressions)

Control is the latest game from Remedy Entertainment, the fine folks behind Alan Wake and Quantum Break. It's... pretty good.

Yeah, it's pretty good with a number of caveats. Terrific combat and a ground bed of fun ideas, marred by some poor writing and level design. Still, you get to throw a LOT of stuff around!

Makes me glad i've got no dog in this PC platform fight and prefer consoles.

I'm with Yahtzee in that Control feels better as Wake's more linear nature led to the gunfights every 5 minutes or so getting a bit tiresome. Quantum Break I enjoyed from beginning to end enough that I did both playstyles.

Speaking as someone who knows jack shit about SCP(besides it being another conspiracy internet meme) I would highly recommend this game as it keeps interest throughout, even Yahtzee enjoyed it in spite of it's faults and for him to enjoy something is a pretty high endorsement.

RedBedroomRecords

there is going to be an Alan Wake TV series.

but no game does physics as well as this game does.

I disagree, I thought the dialogue was pretty good.

I may pick this game up when it is on Steam in 2020. Combat looks fun.

I'm loving the setting, but some of these fights are downright brutal.

Alan Wake was better, but Quantum break was meh.

Speaking of the SCP Foundation, somebody should really make a first-person survival-horror game for SCP-4000, better known as "Taboo" or "4000-Eshu". I'm sorry if my reply feels slightly unrelated to the video, but I'm really out of the loop in regards to new games at the moment and much like that Remnant: From The Ashes game you reviewed , Control looks really dull to me. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough and my attention is admittedly elsewhere, but this month I just haven't been interested in anything computer games related whatsoever.

I miss Alan Wake. I thought it was going to be a series and was excited for more, but nope. Just a semi-sequel spinoff that was all right but also very brief.

Interesting premise, but.... eh, I've seen lots of games with fun combat.

The brutalist architecture is so my jam and one of the things I adore about this game along with the fact that it was designed to be a bureaucratic labyrinth with terrible maps (visit the Pentagon or the Hoover FBI building if you want more terrible real-world mapping). I agree that the internal dialogue was awful and could have been reduced, the story kind of went limp at the end, and there really felt like there was no sense of the stakes, but that telekinesis is really fun!\
