2019-05-09 00:19:47 +0000 UTCReally interesting question about the horror games - I’d suggest though that a lot of games can be turned into horror games by just adjusting the play style. The way I play the Hitman games is for all intents and purposes a serial killer simulator - that was even recognised in the game in a jokey way with a ‘sweeney todd’ style neighbourhood muffin baker. The assassins creed games, the fallout games, or really any open world game with civilians where the lives of ordinary people are suddenly interrupted by a whirlwind of swords and guns. The closest in feel to a ‘real’ horror game for me is thief: deadly shadows - especially of course the cradle but also just when on the streets avoiding charging soldiers.
