The Elder Scrolls: Blades is a free-to-wait game where you watch timers tick away. Whether you're building up your town or opening loot boxes, everything takes time, and the time can always be skipped... for a price.
A toned down Dungeon Keeper Mobile with boring combat and a deliberately unrewarding "reward" system, Blades is another shameless cash grab from a company that should know better.

Games like this do not require mass-audience or high-praise to rake in money. All they need is small group of big spenders who have several thousand dollars worth of disposable income and it will be all fine and dandy. Consumer backlash, general critique, public relation, review scores, none of those matter at that point. So long as they can hook in top few percentage of consumers, they will shove in any kind of monetization tactics.

It feels wrong to say that are <i>good</i> at it, per se, but we at least liked those. We could have a backslapping uproarious laugh at Skyrim's and Fallout 4's glitch-ridden goofiness. This is just sad.
