Added 2018-11-26 14:35:38 +0000 UTCUbisoft, by way of a PR rep, has defended loot boxes after people found them distasteful in Trials Rising. They hammered through both usual and unusual excuses, and did so in a way that truly offended my senses.
AAA publishers are not just riding this gravy train into oblivion, they're actively lying and insulting our intelligence to justify it. And as problem gambling is on the rise, the game industry needs to start admitting fault... or fault will find them.

2018-11-27 05:09:07 +0000 UTCA selfish person might make the argument that they aren't subject to the compulsive behavior and those who are are helping to fill the coffers of the companies and giving them incentive and resources to make more games... Except that, as Jim said, companies like Ubisoft are saying they intend to make *less* games, and the games containing these mechanics get twisted by them whether you buy into the compulsions or not. So... Kind of a bad deal, all the way around.

The Ubisoft argument about the loot boxes earning more money to make more games pissed me off. All someone has to do is look at the rate of video games made by Ubisoft each and compare them to the advent of lootboxes and it falls on its face.<br><br>Fucking sucks that one of your fan's brothers cannot play many AAA video games to cope with gambling because they are bringing in the things he is avoiding. Just how morally bankrupt can a company be?
