Warriors Orochi 4 - It Is Another One (Jimpressions)

Warriors Orochi 4 is mainly decent due to its total disowning of Dynasty Warriors 9. Even so, the reliance on older and overly stale content mixed in with the new stuff makes for a rather unexciting, if perfectly serviceable, experience.
These games are also the only time we get to see Da Ji. She's very funny in this game and has a big enough personality to stand out in this massive cast.

This is a very safe and comfortable entry, but I'm enjoying it. I'm surprised how good the writing is. The heroes vs gods plot reminds of an old insane jrpg, and there's lots of little character moments, which are something I've really, really missed. Things like Naotora II and Yue Jin meeting on the battlefield are really standout moments.

If you are looking into the Warriors Games, I would recommend either the first Warriors Orochi or the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games.

Despite my love for the series and the history it got me interested in..I must agree. They need to step it up and give us a few things including: #1 toggle option for small but noticeable splashes of properly red blood per hit. #2 instead of large groups that all flinch in the same way when hit with a sweeping strike, more personal throw/grapple and targeted weapon attacks that look more realistic and remind you of the DW5 Zhao Yun opening on a smaller scale. #3 better ragdolling and injury shout variety. #4 Stances! Let us choose to use armed or unarmed combat..you know you want some Wuxia hand to hand!

Hey Jim and Co. How does it compare to Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition? HW is pretty much the only Warriors game I put a lot of time into so the recycled characters wouldn't be an issue for me.

You know I've never actually played a Dynasty Warriors/Warriors Orochi game before. With that in mind, would you recommend this one Jim? (or anyone else reading this) I've kind of had my fill of horror games and "walking simulator" fare of varying difficulty and quality, and I've recently been craving a less erudite button basher type game.
