Added 2018-09-14 13:47:47 +0000 UTCShadow of the Tomb Raider is fine. It's simply okay, in a mundane way. While the previous games in the "reboot" continuity were great action adventures, this is predominantly a swimming simulator with a boring plot and dull backdrop.
Also, the direction this game takes, with its lacking combat and focus on restrictive exploration, is a little baffling.

Good point. While it may be the main focus of PVP like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and the endless year editions of sports games, in every other genre it's but one facet. Noobisoft seem to struggle, as Jim mentioned, with open world games containing anything outside of the copy-paste outposts (main storyline excluded ofc). The least we can hope for is Ubisoft watching Insomniac closely and taking notes on how to actually do open world right.

2018-09-14 15:59:20 +0000 UTCIt must be difficult to compete in the cinematic, single-player game space against Sony exclusives like Uncharted 4, that can carry huge production budgets knowing they can sell the game at $60, and use it as a console seller. While a game like this - which is inevitably going to be compared to U4 - either has to work on a smaller budget, include shitty microtransactions and other shady business practices, or some of both.
