A Post Mortem Of An Ex-IGN Plagiarist's Shameless Career (The Jimquisition)

A now former IGN editor was caught plagiarizing a review of Dead Cells and got canned for it. That's where the story should have ended.

Instead, Filip Miucin couldn't help making it worse for himself, and encouraged the world to uncover an entire career built off the stolen work of other people. What a tit.

Kudos to Justin for putting in that Leopard 2 when Jim said tanked. Only fitting that the best tank in the world is on jimquisition. On a serious note, thanks for calling out the harassment directed towards the former IGN guy, I mean what in Thrones name makes his family responsible I'm pretty sure they didn't know!

Wonderful video Jim. So much so that I forced myself here to best support you. With varied journalist being frowned upon - I am happy to see one that severed formal ties with either side of any argument to give his own personal take on things. I proudly support you and will be steering my equally cynical friends toward your content too.

Yeah, sadly this is a meme that ever goes out of style: <a href="https://pics.me.me/shhh-my-common-sense-ms-tingling-common-sense-so-rare-7742826.png" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://pics.me.me/shhh-my-common-sense-ms-tingling-common-sense-so-rare-7742826.png</a>

Great video Jim, I'm a huge fan. Would love to meet you in person some day. If you read this, I am curious to know: are you opposed to the idea of fans of your internet/video persona coming to Sterdust events, in the hopes of meeting you and maybe getting an autograph? (specifically I'd love a Jim Fucking Sterling Son autograph, but Sterdust would be cool too)

Those who forget the lessons of Gary Hart (look it up) are doomed to learn the same lesson as Gary Hart: never dare the press to find proof of your misdeeds if you're actually guilty of something.

Justin did the dogs bollocks on that. Justin you the next like Monty python animator as i can see that. To all of Jims team THANK GOD FOR YOU best in journalism, content and the animation . i am honestly sad it ended so soon!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH xxx

@steven white it worked pretty well for Logan Paul... though his tactics were much better (accept every criticism earned or unearned, self-flagilate publicly more than a medieval priest, and lay low for like two months). Actually, this whole mess reminds me of an old school literary scandal (The case of Nella Larsen vs Sheila Kaye-Smith), that had a major impact on modernism. Interestingly enough, in that case the plagiarism turned out to be a legitimate accident despite being almost as egregious as Mucin here.

I've been quasi-following this story through a couple of channels. It does make me wonder, tangentially- yes, no one deserves to be harassed and threatened, let alone have their families and friends subject to such, and to engage in such harassment is deplorable. But at the same time, does it need to be acknowledged that such is a predictable consequence of high-profile misdeeds, particularly in a field so closely attached to the Internet? You don't deserve crippling injuries for stepping into traffic while looking at your cell phone, either- but at the same time, an ounce of perspective should have seen that coming.

I loved the Sterdust bits! 😃 Also, I did not know the depths of this plagiarism debacle. Holy cow. What a putz. Great video again Mr. Sterdust! 😉

This whole story makes me laugh my arse off. I fuck up on the Internet from time to time, but that boy FUCKED UP ON THE INTERNET. XD

Has the "apology video" ever worked? It's been a thing in the corporate world well before the internet, but was it ever really effective? If anything it renews attention to what you've done wrong, emphasizes the fact saying sorry doesn't make anything better, and encourages laser focus on your wordplay for what you're actually sorry for.

It's amazing. If he had kept his mouth shut, he probably would have been "that one guy who plagiarized that one time." by doubling down on his innocence, he's exposed himself as a complete fraud.

It's high time this country changed its pumpkin fornication laws. Naughty gourds need love too.
