God Of War And The Importance Of Console Exclusives (The Jimquisition)

There's plenty to talk about with God of War, and I'm going to do it. I'm also going to use Chill Dad Kratos' latest adventure to talk about console exclusive games.

God Of War And The Importance Of Console Exclusives (The Jimquisition)

Have to say while I can understand it on the smaller scale it something positive sometimes but on the macro scale its a loss, let me tell you why exclusives are a loss, they raise everyone costs, now sure console makers gain alot of revenue from their consoles and can afford random good titles from the billions they bring in, however if we have a unification of consoles into a single hardware platform that upgraded incrementally like android. I think we would get more solidly built but lower budget games at a better price to cost ratio, I mean they will have to do something with the cost savings from not having to do multiple ports. I mean no matter how you look at it consoles and mobile titles are canned ham while the worst games are treat or headchease the best games don't need to be locked to a single platform...there's just no need for software locked to hardware platforms anymore. That said the PC is not in much better shape but that's due from most big budget games being focused on the console. Suffice to say if you have 3 and a half OS market being windows, Android, Nux’s and craple OS you’d have more money kicking about in more hands so you’d get more middle budget titles the size of God of War just not as shiny. I don’t care if graphics are ten years old physics, hit boxes and collision detection are far more important (dark souls has shitty ass collision boxes). So yes you force the current system to be console-less you get mo better butter games out of it.. well better games more frequently than now…. I been meaning to reply to this been sick on and off allergies and strep throat that don't want to go away...

Quality as always - keep up the great work, Jim!

Has anyone else noticed the stamp showing up on things saying "Privacy Certified " by ESRB . it looks like the typical ESRB game rating in style... When did they start doing privacy? and .. how legit is that?

I think the problem is less PCs competeing with the xbone, and more MS just not releasing compelling titles. Forza was super promising but they squandered it with loot boxes. Sea of theives was a big disappointment, and Halo is a shadow of its former self.

As always, a lot of great points to think about when it comes to exclusives. I had never really thought much in depth about the issue, to be honest. Just settled on being irritated by the titles that I couldn't play due to it being on another console.

I'm going to guess that Microsoft didn't show because having decided virtually all XB1 games are going to get Windows 10 releases, Microsoft doesn't really trade in "exclusive" games anymore. (Or to put it another way, rather than propping up one struggling platform, it's propping up two, but I digress.)

Thus nicely sums up a lot of discussions I’ve had with friends. Gonna have to share this one a bit.

Faith and Valor have a good month creators. Love all that you do.

Huge spoiler warning for God of War here, don't watch if you don't want to be spoiled!

I'm glad you mentioned Nintendo in this video. In an era where games have to be open world or open platform to be the next big thing talked about on the schoolyard, it's surprising to see Nintendo still such a icon among videogames.

I liked the inclusion of the most unintuitive puzzle of the game in this video.
