I penned a little something regarding Activision's latest stinking mess.

Activision Fucks Up Modern Warfare Remastered Further With DLC More Expensive Than It Used To Be

Comments

Hey Jim! I just signed up for your dollar a month! I only make $300 a month so a dollar is all I have for now but I really had to tell you I am such a huge fan! You are by far my favorite YouTubber bar none. I am so glad that you call out the industry and even gamers on their bullshit. Truly you do wonderful work and I am happy to give you some of my money! Please keep doing what you're doing I love it so much!

hey jim, visit my soldier head art gallery. maybe you're interested

This is nothing short of a fucking joke. I don't understand why anyone would support this with any sort of purchase. Even the biggest fans of the series must feel like they are paying to have activation spit in their face. blows my mind

While i agree when it comes to inflation and increased production costs, consider that games are sold up to 80$ for the digital deluxe editions - which usually don't contain any real value except for unlocks. Also add the season pass for a common price of about 30$. Contrary to the popular belief that season pass content is produced later in the pipeline when artists and sound engineers don't have anything to do, you can be sure that season pass content is part of the project and budget. So, to come back to MW: I see where you are coming from but i strongly guess they priced the dlc to meet a expectation for a dlc map pack, instead of the price being the result of a cost calculation.

To be completely honest (and mind that i don't condone these kind of practices at all) prices should be adjusted by inflation. In this particular case it's probably just greed, but in general we have to remember that games are still sold at 60$ like 15 years ago, but 60$ are worth much less than then they were before. Add to that the increasing price of development itself, and it's a no brainer that companies have to rely on DLC and microtransactions to justify the risk of investment. People would hate to start paying more upfront for games (like 90$ for a full fledged game, but without any kind of further payment required aside from major expansions) but i would totally be keen on paying more for a good old Bethesda or CD Red or Rockstar game, to keep it free from bullshit. Sadly, the psychological perception of a price increase would be dangerous for the industry, and they'll choose to keep self destructing their own art form while playing safe with shitty practices that make me sad.

Don't forget the "only cosmetic" supply drop u-turn. The fact they have put thousands of shitty emblems, uniforms (all look the same) etc. It will literally cost you thousands of dollars in a attempt to get the guns with more on the way by the sound of it.
