The Jimquisition: Why I Kick The Starts

I used to love Kickstarter. Then I used to resent it. Then I started loving it again. I make liberal use of Kickstarter to back certain projects, and have been doing it for games a lot more lately.

Some consider this tasteless, a potential conflict of interest. Some believe games media folk have no place contributing to crowdfunded games.

So, here’s why I do it.

I thought DigitalHomicide was now "...The Worst."

The short answer to your inquiry = "You can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time." It is best to continue doing what you already are doing. Stick with the outlets you trust until that trust is broken.

I need Jim in his underwear screaming with a knife as its own clip. I need it drastically.

They just need to see your Dragon Tongue episode to understand you.

I was really hoping this link would just be a static image saying "because I enjoy playing games you dolts!" But this video will suffice.

Thanks for the heads up on Indivisible! It reminds me of Valkyrie Profile. I don't see why someone in games media shouldn't kickstart games. That's like saying they shouldn't buy games, and should review only games they get for free.

Please help me understand if I am way off on this cause I feel like I have this alien opinion on the matter. Whatever media outlet I subscribe to that reviews stuff, if it be games or movies, IGN or Jimquisition or whatever...I watch them with the knowledge that what they present is a ALWAYS from some level of bias or point of view. I even consider a "purely objective or unbiased stance" to be a sort of bias. Its a choice. And I watch content or listen to reviews from sources I trust, knowing that what they are putting out can, and is generally an opinion piece. And I can choose to use that knowledge to inform my own opinions. I don't understand this idea that review media 'must' be this credible and completely unbiased outlet. Or like, any sort of preferential-ness is treated as sneaky, manipulative or bad. I DO understand that there are some shady activities, like companies paying for good reviews, or reviewers having personal investment in outcomes, I get it. But I don't see whats the problem when media, big or small, show interest or want to support a product they might be excited for. It feels like there is this notion that all press must be held to the same degree and I just don't think thats true. And I don't think that CAN be true either. I follow the media I trust, and if that trust is damaged, I look somewhere else. Simple as that.
