The Jimquisition: Pay Day

Overkill has embodied its name when it comes to downloadable content for Payday 2, but its latest shenanigan is possibly the worst.

After adding a microtransaction system to the game in an event that promised FREE updates, Payday 2 has become not just a source of community rage, but an exercise in corporate hypocrisy.

This is a game I personally championed. I take its recent heel turn personally as well.

Sadly, it might be new investors, or long term investors wanting a higher return. I'm not sure what their filing is(SC, LLC etc.) , but if they are a small company they have others to answer for. Hurting sales and clearly making a statement tells investors to back off and leaves the decision making to the people running the company, but if management can't get things together selling the company or bankruptcy could happen. This is kind of the cycle of successful small companies. Why are we in a loop? Well because it's a cycle, like a life cycle, and eco-system of shit. Perhaps, it's like being in the dark-ages and overtime after the shit breaks into something like WW1 or 2 people hopefully will start to work towards reform. Also, investors also may not have a clue about video games and thus lack the empathy to empathize with fans or their customer base. This then becomes a culture issue and leads to some really stupid decisions and miscommunication all around. A company tries to innovate instead violates.

Investors, perhaps new investors.

You might have to start doing two Jimquisitions a week, thanks to all of the crap that the gaming industry does.

OK, why the hell did this happen? Why would Overkill go back on their word and add microtransactions like this? It boggles the mind. >.<
