I can have a better idea of whether the $100 a month I give is more or less vital if I know whether they're making $200 a month or $200000 a month total; gives me better understanding of the situation so I can make better decisions. I also like to know if the person I'm supporting is doing alright or if he's growing or shrinking in revenue, since I can give support/criticism more effectively. And finally, for those who have goals to meet, it lets me know how close someone is to meeting those goals when I can see how much they're making.
