The Jimquisition: Review Events And Boot Camps
Added 2015-08-31 13:43:51 +0000 UTCWith the recent kerfuffle over Metal Gear Solid V being reviewed at "boot camps," it's a good opportunity to talk about review events overall, and why they're total bollocks.
General rule of thumb should be - if a publisher is making you go out of your way to review their game, they should eff off. They dictate enough of the terms as it is.

2015-09-01 02:45:45 +0000 UTCTHe Witcher 3 event should get special attention. They flew people to Poland.. gave them so much free crap it was unbelievable. I am not saying it is not a good game but the Witcher 3 had a larger budget spent on promotions and Marketing than the actual game budget.
2015-08-31 23:42:09 +0000 UTCI squid I kid, I squid again. yeah, it's always felt like a lot of publishers are seeing/testing how low they can bring an individual down through those types of review environments. it's sad really. the reviewers have the power but fail to notice this and so they give it up to the press event holder.
