2015-07-16 17:28:10 +0000 UTCTo corroborate Laura's point about hardware permutations, there are also a fucktonne (metric) of software permutations as well. Console is the champion of consistency. Windows is little more than the firmware for PC gaming (…and then there's Mac and Linux beyond that), the substrate all the variables build off of. That 1990s stereotype is real, but costly (and they have every right to be), and they tend to be…awkward…socially. There are of course exceptions, but I've worked with several laser-focused hackers either professionally or in open source and that kind of genius tends to come with eccentricities. And to be fair I'm not the easiest guy to get along with, either.
