The Jimquisition: Steam Refunds

Steam has finally delivered some basic customer service in the form of a refund policy. This is a good thing. A damn good thing. A long overdue, much needed, very good thing.

Naturally, this means there's a debate about it with some people saying it's a bad thing. A number of developers and even games press pundits have criticized the move.

They're basically wrong, but let's look at the benefits and concerns anyway, because when Steam's involved, it always pays to at least think of how it could go tits up.

I swear that other Unity episode is still happening!

This opening is exactly how I looked in college, except I didn't do makeup and that was my actual hair.

My problem with the 'less than two hours of play' thing is that it doesn't account for game such as Star Wars: The Old Republic that are fine for the first three hours or so but then you hit a point where the game consistently crashes. Because it happens after the two hour point am I just not entitled to a refund? Or what about Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodline which has that game breaking crash right near the end of the game? Also I find it very odd to see the Bash Street Kids and Lord Snooty showing up in YouTube videos in 2015.

I dont seem to get updates from anyone when new content is posted O.o?

Oh my stars, get this man a Mint Julep.

Ha, you make a point. We never really know what parodies will be relevant in the future. I know some old TV shows and movies make references to things that were huge at the time but mean nothing now - Mystery Science Theater is a hotbed of that. Hopefully, if Hatred's forgotten, people will just see it as an "Edgy Teen" parody. :-)

I'd like to see the return percentage on the store page right next to the add to cart button.

As someone who was born and raised in the American South...why on Earth would you go outside, Jim?! It's like a bog made entirely of sweat and decaying human skin. Anyway, fantastic episode as usual. I loved the Hatred bit at the beginning, but it made me wonder: since Hatred is such a non-game, that no one is claiming as remotely worthwhile, I wonder if in two years time when a new viewer stumbles upon this video, will they have ANY idea what you're parodying? Hatred will be so utterly forgotten that the joke will be an anachronism. Well done indeed, sir.
