Well, it's February 1 and we're here. At least we can say that much. Here's the news from your pal Soushiyo.

Familiar back from break
Thanks for sticking around while I took my planned hiatus, and welcome back to active Familiar development for the new year. This month I'll be working on the first filler chapter for the final act of Familiar (SAFE), finalizing the script for HOME (including having it reviewed by a SR editor), and doing some behind the scenes work for other stuff that's in progress but not ready to be announced yet.

More German Familiar chapters ready for your reading
Over the break I managed to meet my goal of getting the German translations laid out and posted up through chapter 07 CENTER. You can read them either here in the Patreon collection or on the Duck (if you want to share with your friends who aren't Patrons). Thanks again to the German translation team.

Familiar collection available as a buy-once product
I'm also experimenting with Patreon products now that adult content is permitted. I've listed the entire Familiar collection (with all chapters) as a buy-once product; if you're interested in that you can now purchase that and access the chapters without buying a subscription. I am not sure what happens when I update the collection but I imagine your purchase of the collection expands to include any updates. To this end I may raise the price a little bit when I complete and add the last few chapters later, but for now you can get all of Familiar for $20. (Note: You can also access all of Familiar for $2 if you subscribe and read it all in one month. Or you could stay subscribed for 10 months, spend the same amount of money, and get access to other stuff like the wallpapers and Discord server if you wanted, but it's your call. I get it, subscriptions suck.)

Last act of Familiar: what does it all mean?
I've seen some questions about what it means that we're in the final act of Familiar (chapter 20 HOME is the last plot chapter in my script before the (3-part) finale. What it means is that I've got a few filler chapters planned for Act IV (4 for sure, maybe 6) and then a scripted 3-part (probably like 60 pages total) finale. For those of you following along, you'll note that although we're in the "last act," this number of pages is well over a year's worth of work (might even be 2. So, yes, Familiar is ending -- it always had an ending -- but we're quite a ways away from it if I continue working at my usual pace. So don't worry.

The best part about the last act of Familiar is that EVERYONE IS GETTING MAKEOVERS! I'll be introducing those changes in the next four Influencer polls. Let that be your light in the darkness.

Soiree
During the break I managed to make some considerable progress on Soiree, though I didn't finish it. Alas. I'll continue to at least try to finish the thumbnails this month and I'll just keep plugging away at it. It's a huge comic so it's going to take some time. Eventually I intend to publish it at least to Patreon as a subscription perk ($2+) and also as a stand-alone buy-once product.

Shop update
Thank you all for your holiday months purchases! I was able to complete The Familiar (Oracle Card print) during the break, following the two Influencer polls from Dec/Jan. Enjoy.

General state of the world update
I'm not going to get into it too much because this isn't the forum for it, but yeah. Being an adult content creator has been difficult, is difficult, and is going to get more difficult in the coming months and years. At this time I do not intend to stop what I'm doing, and my plan is to keep putting one foot in front of the other for as long as I can do so without compromising my own safety.

That said, my priority at the moment is getting Chapter 20 HOME out the door early this year before anything drastic goes into place. HOME is actually completely SFW and, if the worst happens and adult content is banned or it's made too challenging for me to keep making Familiar, the chapter actually ends in a place that I think could serve as a temporary ending/conclusion until things change in a way that I can continue the comic and complete it in the original way it was intended.
