January '25 Newsletter (public)

Happy new year!

Reminder that Familiar is officially on break. I'll include the schedule for the next couple months at the bottom of this post, but the most important thing is that through January I will be breaking from the actual Familiar comic to work on other projects (many which are Familiar related). Those projects are detailed below.

December ended up being much busier in my real life than I anticipated, so it was a relief for me that I was already on break, because I'm not actually sure I could have stayed on schedule otherwise. It does mean I wasn't as productive as I would have liked to be, however. But that's what break phases are for, right? Being less productive? Ha ha ha ha ha.

This month:

Working on Unoriginal Characters & Soiree

I'm hoping to finish up some of the style and character work on UNOC, as well as finish the thumbnails and at least a few of -- if not all? lol? -- of the Soiree pages. In progress/dev work is being posted to the Seeker ($40) tier if you're interested in that.

Familiar translations

I've been working with the DE translation team on a more documented process so that it's easier to communicate between the team as more people join up. Please check in with us in the translator's cafe channel if you're interested in joining the team, and I really appreciate and thank everyone's who's expressed interest!

Three of the new German translations have been uploaded to the Duck and added to the Patreon DE archive, with more on the way.

We also have a translator interested in initiating a translation in Brazilian Portuguese. If you have any interest in joining this team, please DM me or give us a shout out on the server.

Familiar print edition publication tentatively scheduled for mid-late summer 2025; possible artbook on the way as well

I've been given a tentative date of mid-2025 for the publication of the first Familiar anthology, which will include the first act and filler chapers from that act. I've also been in touch with a different publisher regarding a possible artbook; more on that as it develops!

And other secret stuff

I'm also in conversations about moving Familiar off DD/Flowfo to a trusted and reliable community partner that specializes in adult comics, making it more accessible. Again, more on that as it happens.

State of the world...
