Retrospective: Twilight

Hey all!

Here's my retrospective on the Twilight video.

On the last one some of you expressed a desire for longer content, so I have allowed myself to ramble more. I hope that's as good for you as it is for me.

Thank as always for your support,

Natalie

P.S. In my last post I said I would be posting the Conspiracy retrospective this week too—but I've changed my mind. I think a "retrospective" video is more interesting if enough time has passed for meaningful retrospection. So I think I'll hold off on that until the video reaches its first birthday. Up next, there's a main channel video I'm very determined to finish by the end of this year. So I'm going to get to work on that!

Honestly yeah

why don't you just staple your script together a works cited page and submit the damn thing as a dissertation to get your PhD?

Completely agree twilight is your best video! I listen to it monthly on my phone while doing the dishes (literally. You read me so hard)

read Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves -- was okay -- moving on to How to Do Nothing by Jenny Odell

Gart Kundalini

This was excellent!

My life was crazy this summer, so I'm finally catching up on your videos from the past few months. I really enjoy both retrospectives you've put out so far!

Thank you for the longer video, Mother <3 I advertised the Twilight video to friends and family members as 'the best thing I watched in 2024 all media included', so the effort you put in lighting and set design do not go unappreciated <3 Just a quick note on the orientalism: I appreciate you naming the specific origins of all the elements you use. I personally loved seeing a Moroccan caftan featured in my absolute favorite YouTube work yet, and appreciated more your naming it correctly in this video.

Natalie, as a Fine Artist and Special FX artist, I have to say that I always loved watching your videos on the Tv. Me and my ex would make it a “movie night”. What amazes me really is your research. You must own so many books, where do you keep them all?
