AMA Stream #54a

Hey friends,

I'm posting this at 8pm ET, I still need to eat a slice of pizza and put on a lil makeup so I will begin the stream in 30 minutes. Here's the stream link, feel free to join the chat any time!

I'll be answering the questions from the "AMA #54" question invite post for 15+ patrons.

The stream will remain archived here for those who miss it live.

Looking forward to chatting!

Love,

Natalie

P.S. Here's the link to the stream again in case the one above isn't working: https://youtu.be/mYDrIrPcgPw

Yay someone using the word "prostitutes" in a positive framework! I don't like that that's seen as a bad word or an insult nowadays-- while "whore" can be reclaimed despite being an actual slur! When people ask what type of sex work I did I openly tell them I was a prostitute (I'm trans so I mean when I was a girl). Sex work is a categorical term and censoring the specific label by reverting to the categorical label implies that the specific activity is unspeakably bad.

Hey thanks for sharing! In case it's interesting for you or other people: https://lausan.hk/2021/periphery-has-no-time-for-binaries/

Juno Mac and Molly Smith’s “Revolting Prostitutes: The Fight for Sex Workers’ Rights” is worth reading if you’re interested in sex worker’s rights and the sex wars in feminism. If you don’t want to commit to reading the book, Juno Mac has a Ted Talk called “The laws that sex workers really want” which summarizes the legal aspect of sex work.

if anyone is interested in the fruits of my research into the Uyghur crisis here's a (relatively) short google doc I made! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TSsLKPW0helZ1b3SX_NOz1HPQiohP7CB1ljRs4wcRlQ/edit?usp=sharing I looked through every link presented by the /r/communism masterpost and found that much of it is poorly researched or argued.
