Q&A (August 2025)

We had our first live Q&A on Sunday and it was really fun, and hopefully not too messy! As promised, here is an edited recap of some of the questions and answers for non-patrons who are interested in some extra Incubus and game dev tidbits!

Okay, onto the questions!

Hiii. What is a random, seemingly inconsequential, fact about Flea? Could be he blinks slow or acts like he believes the Earth is flat just to piss people off lol

Hmm... well, it's hardly a secret that he's a huge fidgeter! Can't get the guy to sit still.

Flea has suddenly acquired 5 vs 50 vs 500 dollars. What does he do in each situation?

5 - probably just goes in the drawer. 50 - new sex toy! 500 - he wouldn't even know what to do with that. Probably just try and slip it to the detective.

How do you go about creating story concepts? What’s the difference between those that get scrapped and those that get carried onto the next stage?

Time, usually! Any game that ever made it to release (besides Rei) has usually been in the works for years and shelved multiple times. And, to be honest, I'm not sure I've truly ever "scrapped" anything. I need to live to 500 so I can make everything I want to!

Has there been anything unexpected in writing Incubus?

Flea! He developed at a totally different pace than I originally intended for him. He's come a lot further and is a lot more mature at this point than I thought he'd be.

How do you go about world building? I’d like to ask specifically about how you came up with the demons in Demonology: Incubus !

Some stuff was easy, like dividing them into categories based on the 7 deadly sins. That's almost like a cheat code. And then I just thought about famous monsters or folklore creatures and how they might be demons that have been slightly misunderstood by us humans over the years.

Let’s say a more physically capable Detective princess carries Flea. How does he react/feel?

At this point, with the right vibe, Flea would love that. He likes being taken care of, as long as he doesn't suspect he's being mocked or condescended to.

Does the skin care actually help Flea’s skin? Or is it more about normalcy, routine and the kind of pampering of it all?

Hmmm... I don't know. It probably does help! The skin is "real" in a sense, so it should definitely do better with care.

Have you experienced scope creep with your projects? If so, how do you avoid it?

Oh, for sure! Always. I have to start SO small just to have a hope in hell of ever finishing anything because it always grows. Yeah, that'd be my advice to anyone else. If you know you're weak, start small!

Are you looking to keep writing explicit interactive fiction once incubus is over?

Yeah, almost certainly! But any future projects will likely have a PG-13 version, too where you can skip the explicit scenes. It's just with Incubus, so much of the development happens IN the sex scenes, they can't really be cut. Hehe.

I think you've mentioned before that demons don't have control over their human appearances and that the location of their "territory" also decides what human language they can speak. Does their location have any effect on how they look, or is blending in unimportant because of how little time they typically spend among humans?

Hmm... the specifics of how demon magic works is always going to be very wishy-washy because I've got a very "wizard did it" attitude to it, but! It would make sense that demons that needed to spend a decent amount of time in human shape would be suited to their environment.

Where would Flea want to go on vacation if he could go anywhere?

His world is so small, dude. He'd be happy just locking himself and the detective (and Tabby) in the apartment for a week before he ever suggestion a change of scenery. But I think if the detective dragged him to a cabin in the beautiful woods or something... he could really fall in love with that. As long as it was more glamping than camping!

Does Ted see the detective as his poor stray no matter what relationship we have with him?

Ted's feelings for the detective are the same, regardless how sweet or cold or puppy love they are to him. He doesn't see them as a stray, though sometimes his actions might come across that way.

If you're comfortable answering, I'm just curious whether the final chapter to Incubus will end right at the narrative conclusion or if there'll be a short little "epilogue" section?

There will be an epilogue. I just haven't decided if it will be its own (free) chapter or if I'll be able to fit it into what is already looking to be a bloated Chapter 10.

What kind of character do you think you’re most drawn to writing? I would like to tie Trash and Flea together and ship them as a welcome basket.

I think Trash, to a lesser extent, and Jamal and Flea, to a greater one, inhabit the character category of “pathetic horny” that I seem to really dig. But, truthfully, I just like writing any character you can have good banter with.

Flea and the detective switch bodies freaky Friday style. 1. Whats the first thing they do. Barring looking into the cause of course 2. Can Flea feel any difference? Like is there a weird, icky human feeling 3. Can Tabby tell the difference?

1. I’m not sure about the detective—you’d be better able to answer that. But Flea would probably want to prank Ted or, like, test him.

2. It would definitely feel different for both of them, being in the body of a different species. I think Flea would get overwhelmed at all the different things he could feel his new body doing at once.
