Hook of Plunder
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement)
This prosthetic hook replaces a missing hand. While attached and attuned, the hook can be used to interact with objects, as a sickle, and a spellcasting focus. It can’t be used to perform somatic components for spells or wield weapons. You have proficiency with this hook when it is used as a sickle, and it has the finesse property.
As you acquire plunder, the hook’s magic grows in power. At each stage, it becomes more ornately gilded and jewel encrusted than before, representing your plunderous prowess. When you complete a short or long rest while attuned to the hook, you can permanently absorb nearby gold, or other Tiny nonmagical valuables, into the hook to empower it. If your attunement to the hook ends, it reverts to its basic state.
Rascal. The hook has absorbed 1,000 or more gp.
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the hook when it is used as a sickle.
The hook deals an extra 1d4 force damage to any target you hit with it.
As an action, you can cast the mage hand spell from the hook.
Plunder. When you hit a creature with the hook, you can force it to make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, you pickpocket one Tiny item from the creature. The item can’t be something the creature is currently wielding, and you must be able to hold the object with the hook. Once you’ve used this property against a creature, you can’t use it against that creature again for 24 hours.
The DC for the hook’s spells and Plunder property is 15.
Rake. The hook has absorbed 10,000 or more gp.
The hook’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2.
The extra force damage die increases to 1d8.
As an action, you can cast the arcane hand spell from the hook. Once arcane hand has been cast from the hook, the spell can't be cast from it again until the next dawn, unless you expend 500 gp as material components, which the spell consumes.
The DC for the hook’s spells and Plunder property increases to 17.
Blackguard. The hook has absorbed 50,000 or more gp.
The hook’s bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3.
The extra force damage die increases to 1d12.
Arcane hand is now cast at 7th level. Additionally, you can now cast the mage hand and arcane hand spells as a bonus action.
The DC for the hook’s spells and Plunder property increases to 18.
