Karkadann

When a spanse of desert, grassland, or steppe has been marred by war, plundered of its natural resources, or tainted by a curse, a karkadann might appear to rid the land of evil (and everything else as well). Extremely territorial and belligerent, karkadann refuse to share their habitat with any creature large enough to attract attention.
Despite its size, the karkadann is surprisingly quick, able to cover many miles in a day with a thunderous stride as it patrols its vast territory. Woe upon anyone that finds their way into the karkadann’s lands, for it uses its speed to pursue and skewer targets on sight. Those who survive the first charge risk being crushed under its tremendous bulk as it returns for another pass. Anyone desperate seeking to safeguard a treasure might do so within the territory of a karkadann, utilizing the natural ferocity of the beast as a formidable deterrent.
The karkadann shows particular animosity towards creatures that match or exceed its own size, such as giants, elephants, and dragons. Encountering such a creature within its lair will send the karkadann into a fearsome rage. When engaging a party of intruders, the karkadann prefers to target the largest foe first. The only inhabitants that do not provoke the ire of the karkadann are small birds such as oxpeckers and ring doves.
Eternal Guardian. Unless its horn is destroyed or removed from its territory, the karkadann cannot truly die. Each time it is slain, its body will begin to slowly regenerate until it returns to life. The horn of a karkadann has magical healing and antivenom properties when consumed or used as a spellcasting focus.
