Evon Redux, page 1

For those who may be unaware, I’m going to start redrawing Evon. The plan is to steadily redraw the comic and, once I get to a point where I’m close to finishing the first volume, launch a Kickstarter to print Volume One. I tried making a Kickstarter a number of years ago with no success (this was probably year three into the comic), but my audience is bigger now and I think I have the support to make a successful campaign.

Of course I’ll post all updates to Patreon so y’all can keep track of how it’s going. I can’t promise a consistent upload schedule for the new Evon pages, but maybe I’ll manage figure out a good upload day that I can keep up with.

I WISH I had that sort of stamina!

This reminds me of when the webcomic author and artist Sarah Ellerton decided to revamp early pages of The Phoenix Requiem, all while putting out new pages and also making the art for Dreamless, to the tune of 6-10 pages total per week. I'm still convinced Sarah is a machine to keep up that level of output! 😁🤣

I likely won’t redraw it 100% and stop at a point where the art is “close enough”

Bri Shepard

Yeah, I tried doing it while I was still in college. I stopped because I thought it was too early for a redraw

Bri Shepard

This would be your 2nd attempt at redrawing it right? I seem to recall you tried for one chapter years ago?

I must admit, while I liked the original quite a bit, redrawing it will be a nice addition. The question I have is, where will you stop? Almost every artist hates their earlier work, and when they start redrawing it, oft times find it hard to find a stopping point where they are happy with the results. At that point, it becomes an endless loop of looking back with dissatisfaction, saying, "Oh crud, my old stuff looks awful! I can do better than that now!" Then, you start redrawing your work about 8 to 10 times, until your hands become arthritic from all the punishment of drawing new comics, and redrawing your old work. With the volume of work you've done so far, I figure that should take between three and four years. So please be careful, you're a better story teller than I, as you CAN draw straight lines, and don't get bogged down in details.

I wonder if Evon will have that 80’s poofy hair
