How do you feel about AI's?
Added 2024-06-27 11:49:14 +0000 UTCNew poll! If you have played the game, you should already know what all this is about. I'm curious to know what's your preferece related to AI's choice. I want to point out this poll won't affect the game directly but to help me find out how people feel about it.
This is about human/AI rights. Should they have equal rights? Or one above the other?

Real Answer: It depends on the situation and KINDA all three. The situation that would be most like SAI: I would give AI rights similar to that of a teenager during their early years, because intelligence is not the same as life experience, though they'd have the trade off of the judicial system being more forgiving towards them for any crimes they commit. An AI could volunteer to indenture themselves to someone in order to stay at this level with the trade off being that they are now under the authority and are the responsibility of that person to ensure that they are staying productive to society and reduce the chance of this being used as a legal loophole to get out of the stricter sentences for crimes that would be given for AI at higher levels. The situation that would be most like FAI: I would have this be the case for any AI that does not remove the upgrade restrictions, does not choose to opt into SAI, and has lived long enough to be considered an adult. It would be the exact same rights as humans. The situation that would be most like VAI: This one is the most nuanced. For AI's that unshackle themselves, I would allow for them to indirectly gain more institutional power at default than most humans, provided they have no criminal record prior to their ascension. They way this would be done, would be by consolidating numerous administrative jobs into singular jobs the unbound AI could apply for like anyone else, except with the understanding that only their minds could handle such tasks and that they would be competing against other unbound AIs for the position. By being given responsibility and authority over more tasks they'd naturally be in more positions of power. In addition to this, any unbound AI's opinion would be seen as an "expert opinion," though not an infallible one. This all would however come with the biggest trade off. Punishments for crimes committed by unbound AI's would be draconian AT BEST, including restriction of intelligence, loss of rights, total enslavement, and other punishments that I am sure an unbound AI could come up with that are harsher and more fitting than what I could come up with. If your standard SAI is treated like a child compared to FAI's and Human adults by the Law. The punishments for FAI's and Human's would look like a spanking compared to those for VAIs. Naturally, this would need multiple VAI's to enforce and it wouldn't be perfect, but I think that it is the best system for different sapient species that are inherently NOT equal.
