Also I was schooled in a comment section once that “cannon” is up to who owns the story not who writes it. And i think akira sold dragon ball to funimation so GT and all of Z technically count.

2025-05-15 03:10:28 +0000 UTCAt first this filler doesn’t really fit, the tophels were never in the manga, but they appear here, in a non English dubbed movie, and most notably in GT. Now for the longest time it was argued GT, not written by Toriyama, wasn’t cannon. However with Diama toriyama took ssj3 vegeta from a fan made show, ssj4 goku from GT and put them in a cannon series since akira helped make it. So does that not retcon all of GT, superheros, etc. as cannon? Let’s face it dragon ball is the coolest series there is its just not the best written. Akira isn’t Oda.
