Game Progress #1

Hello, everyone.

To start our development progress post I would like to talk about the whole picture: the novel design you'll play, routes and how many words we aimed to write, where we are, our goals, how many people are working on Wand Out, etc.

Starting from the beginning!

Different from our previous novels (Freezer Pops and Fallen Bear), Wand Out's design starts with a common route that has almost 12k words. This is the moment in which we'll introduce you to the game's world and present the characters, especially the datable ones (Hermes, Rob/Neil, Drake). 

At first, our plan was to have 4 datable guys but as we as moved forward throughout the development, we saw there would be too many renders to make and we wouldn't have enough time for it, so we kept only 3. However, even though we decided to keep 3, we merged two routes from the previous 4 into one to have a polyamorous relationship.

The common route ends when Barry enters his dorm after the "password moment" with Phoenixflight and decides to imagine him having sex with the three boys. Even though your past choices have an influence on how much you desire the boys, at this moment all choices will be visible and the chosen one will define the route you'll follow. Check out how we designed it in a flowchart.

After you start a route, your past choices and the new ones can influence the scenes you will have access to. 

For each route, our goal is to write at least 20k words, so the entire game will have around 70k words more. Also, each will have 2 bad endings and a good one.

Today we have two routes completely written (Hermes and Rob). They focus on different fetiches; Hermes' one is more about magical sex toys and fantasies that involve cum. Rob's embraces tentacles and threesome. Drake's isn't 100% defined yet but until now it's more about harassment and exhibitionism (having sex in front of people and in public spaces).

Regarding the renders, we're about to finish the ones that will be presented on Hermes' route. It's taking longer than we'd like because there are scenes that take hours to render (especially if there are more than 2 characters on screen) and we're learning how to make more scenes more effectively. You'll see the difference when you play Herme's and Rob's routes. 

Almost half of our team is working on Wand Out. Mari is the writer and the programmer, Raphael is the 3D artist, Cure Dreamer works with post-production and I work managing the project as well as doing other stuff like polishing it on Unity, marketing, etc. 

That's the reason we started Patreon. Working with marketing/content production takes time and we need to work on our 2D projects too.

In the next weeks, we intend to finish all renders from Herme's route and start Rob's one. Mari's goal is to write at least half of Drake's route. Probably Cure Dreamer will start working on the post-production after Herme's route is done. He is working on other projects in the meantime. Raphael will try to render new animations too; I hope he is able to do that, so I can share them with you.
