Thousands of years in the future, during the third wave of colonization into space, Sikari, a lowly Guardsman of the Empire is forced to confront the horrors not just of what she has chosen for herself, but the consequences of age-old horrors beyond her reach. As the world around her crumples under the face of an unknown threat and the impossible destruction levied against it by those who care not for her or those she has chosen to protect, Sikari is forced to make hard choices about what it means to be a good soldier, what it means to protect those you love, and whether the path she’s set herself on is worthwhile.
As the world evolves around her and reveals more of its secrets and more and more strangeness is revealed, the system of Tau Ceti is thrown into upheaval by the arrival of a planetary Judge and the horrors she is here to burn from this world. What is a lowly ex-cultist-gangster to do but try not to get killed, and maybe take some bastards with her on the way?
Hey folks! If ever you wanted to do away with the cultivation and focus more on the grim darkness of the far future (yes, this started out six versions ago as a 40k fanfic, though I can't rightly call it that anymore), this one's for you! Stars and Shadows goes hard, grounded sci-fi with eldritch elements brought about by interdimensional psychic shenanigans. It's a story about loving the unlovable, about what you're willing to sacrifice to achieve a goal and whether or not being human is even worth it, and what it means to fight against things so far beyond any one life. It's very, very much a work in progress, and I can't rightly promise it won't undergo some major rewrites in the future. However, you guys get first pick of the goodies, and it's my sincere hope that anyone who joins the Soldiers of the Thrones tier enjoys the wonders and horrors of the world of Stars and Shadows!
