Sneak Peek – Reconstruct Memories

Hello everyone! I’ve mostly been focused on programming lately, so I don’t have much visual content to show for now. Still, I wanted to share a quick preview of what I’ve been working on behind the scenes.

Relive Scenes

(I know it looks a bit dull at the moment, but the important thing is that it works. It even shows the animations when you hover the mouse over them)

First of all, a feature that’s been requested for a long time, the gallery. “Relive scenes” is what it’s called in-game and it allows you to easily replay notable scenes you’ve unlocked during your playthrough. I just added persistent variables so the scenes will be locked by default even if you have saves. But don’t worry, I also added a “cheat” in the options menu that lets you unlock all the scenes from the start.

Reconstruct memories

I’m currently working on a way to let players rebuild their save files, allowing you to explore multiple routes and pick up the story from wherever you want. The in-game explanation is that Rea electrocuted you so hard it left you unconscious, so together you try to recap how much you can remember.

Alternate Mia scene

I have already started writing her scene, but I haven't gotten to the core of it yet. I want to finish the hardest part first (programming) so I can work on it more calmly. For now I'll be keeping what happens in her scene a secret, so I'll just say that there are many things you can do if you manage to hack into Mia's brain... ranging from reading her mind to controlling other more compromising aspects.

Built in cheats

This will take me a bit more time to code due to the risk of completely breaking them. I know some of them are a bit frustrating, so I want to add functionality to make the minigames easier and, if you want, skip them entirely. It's something I would like to include in v0.4.5, but it will add more days to the schedule so may move it to the next update.

Release date

Whether or not I will be able to release the update at the end of the month depends on me being able to finish the memory reconstructor in a couple of days, but to be honest v0.4.5 will probably be released in early May. This is all I have to show you for now... apart from this small preview.

Thanks to a patron who commissioned something that fits with the game, I plan to add a little scene for this update as one of the outcomes of Ruri's coin minigame.
