10 Franchises That Would Make GREAT Legacy Board Games

Hello employees!

Time for some more wonderful BOARD GAME CONTENT.

Trust us, we're working on some super fun gaming stuff (inc a series we're planning on launching later this month πŸ‘€) but until then enjoy this brand new Top 10!

We love love LOVE Legacy games, and if you asked us which IPs we most want to be given the legacy treatment, there's so many that we'd really struggle. Thankfully BlampCo's wonderful patron Bryan commissioned this list and FORCED us to do it! Eternally grateful and eternally vengeful.

Watch, digest, and enjoy. Then get back to work

10 Franchises That Would Make GREAT Legacy Board Games

Comments

Immediately came up with a mechanic for an RDR legacy game: Both teams have a "Desperation Deck". A set of cards they can use to swing things in their favour if things start getting bad for their team. The game implies that there might be consequences for this, but what the consequences are will be unknown until the last game of the campaign, where each desperation card used is counted, and for each one, 3 cards are taken from the final pack, to form two new deck, one for each team reqpectively, representing a whole new faction: The Pinkertons. Basically, an over powered final boss, that focused on whichever team has more cards on their respective deck (attacking both if there's ever a same number of cards on both decks). To fight back, every attack from each team makes the Pinkertons discard 1 card from their respective deck, however, they can risk some of the resources earned throughout the campaign to do additional attacks (which have a possibility of failure and retaliation). Objective being to be the first team to deck them out.

A James Bond legacy game, up to 6 players, where 007 is an NPC that in some way informs the direct of a game (this is the Diamonds Are Forever period, where there are a bunch of international diamond smugglers and various doubles of Blofeld, or this is the Live and Let Die period, where apparently tarot cards and voodoo might work), but where the players play agents, perhaps rogue agents like Sean Bean's 006, bouncing around the globe and trying to thwart (or aid) different villainous schemes. Each game ends with either a major villain defeated, or their evil plan coming to fruition and making life harder, but also skipping forward through the decades, changing fashions, geopolitical relations. Hopefully more along the lines of SMERSH and not just a reskin of Pandemic Legacy Season 0. A gang vs gang game like Necromunda, but set in a fictional comic book city that has years of history, like Batman's Gotham (with story arcs like No Man's Land), or Judge Dredd's Mega City One (with story arcs like the Apocalypse War, or Necropolis). One player gets to be 'the cops' who, if they keep losing, get one use abilities to drop in signature characters to turn the tide. Maybe some scenarios the gangs have to team up again an external threat. Players can get to claim territories on the map by graffiti stickers to mark their turf. Something Lovecraftian, given that those stories frequently feature generational trauma, or secret identity switches. Feature New England through the years, much like Betrayal Legacy, or Werewolf Legacy, with some Secret Abilities you can unlock as rewards but keep hidden until you use, but other Dark Secrets tied to each family's heritage, sealed away in dusty looking envelopes, but revealed at untimely moments to reveal that your bloodline means you might turn into a fish person, or your great-great-great-grandmother was a white ape, or your look-alike ancestor will kill you and take your place. Characters are mostly trying to team up to thwart cults from summoning their gods, but some of those Secrets might have characters working towards the same agenda as the cult, or a completely different goal. Essentially Arkham Horror meets Betrayal Legacy meets Dead of Winter. Granted, Cthulhu is also a bloated intellectual property we probably have too many games for. Also the Sinbad game does sound like a cross between the Arabian Nights game you mentioned and existing Legacy game Seafall, but it would be a lovely mash-up.

The Kings Dilemma is genuinely one of the greatest experiences I've ever had playing boardgames. We need more games like it. Also yes it did take us nearly 2 years because scheduling is the true nemesis of adulthood.

Finally .. someone sees Adric for the annoying weasel he was Er I mean great video But seriously he was the worst

I love being an employee of blampco, the only company where you have to pay the company to work for them.

Never played the Bio Shock but I would definitely play that board game and Until Dawn would be great too. How about a Harry Potter type where you learn new spells. Encounter dark wizards or creatures. Where the end of the session you battle a new Dark Lord who could be a cooperative player who turns evil secretly killing or hurting other on their quests.

Thanks for the heads up everybody. I’ve actually looked into it now that I know it’s a board game and it looks super fun. Already this Patreon channel has shown me something that I didn’t know. Well worth the price of admission.

I'm playing through it with some friends now. It's basically a team-based cooperative skirmish game with level-ups between missions so it's not really doing a ton with the "legacy" concept, but it works and the game is a blast. The campaign is very short (3-5 games, depending on choices) but there are several branching paths the narrative can take so it can be replayed. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far.

I hope the new series is "Adam vs", in which he takes on a friend in specifically head-to-head games, which I feel don't get much love on these board game channels even though the reason is obvious and I totally understand it Maybe the first episode is "Adam vs Teri," followed perhaps by Lad--ahem, HobbyKnight, Pete...

I'd pitch a Last Of Us legacy game.

MetalGearCheese

There already is one πŸ˜„ don't know how good it I'd though

They made a Sinbad board game! Your mention reminded me of it: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/22060/sinbad ... Seeing those monsters as a kid with no knowledge of the films was quite surreal. It's a very basic game (a spinner, player with the most treasure wins) and it's hard to find and sells for stupid prices online today that don't reflect its quality (or lack thereof). Your version would be loads better.

I think Mass Effect would be the perfect game for a board.

As you approach 40, eh? I have 60 looming on the horizon, and that barely disguised hatred of the young (with all their lustrous hair, winning smiles and fully working skeletal structures) does not diminish. Oh yeah... Death Note, Bioshock & Attack On Titan are excellent choices. Personally, I think I'd recommend the Gojira franchise, just for the joy of playing with lots of little plastic or pewter Kaiju.

I think Fallout could be a cool legacy game, pick a state, every player is a faction trying to shape it in their image, taking over areas, board can evolve as new regions become irradiated/safe, more permanent damage can be via nukes
