As I continuously reiterate, striking a harmonious balance between self-compassion and self-reflection is not only attainable but also essential (I’m not here to scold you, I’m here to help you pick yourself up.). It is often the case that when confronted with circumstances that are in direct opposition to our desires, like when we see the opposite of what we’re trying to manifest, we tend to react in one of three distinct ways: succumbing to a state of panic, willingly indulging in that emotional response (entertain negative thoughts), or reverting back to the familiar narratives we have become accustomed to, going back on autopilot. However, it is crucial to note that I do not intend to scold or berate you for resorting to those familiar narratives. On the contrary, I empathize with the innate instinct that drives this behavior. There is a peculiar comfort derived from the familiarity of discomfort, which in turn complicates the process of effecting meaningful change. While it is true that the propensity to revert back to old stories and "give up" when faced with unwanted situations depends on numerous individual factors, I genuinely comprehend the underlying reasons that drive such a response.
