Nisemonogatari Ep5

Kaiki is a fake that reveals the truth of the contradictions in how a fake social construct (money) dictates the material truth of people's lives. Also, interestingly enough, even though he does partake in commodity market exchange, he's not really a capitalist, since he provides both the labor value and the initial means of production. There is no exploitation where his compensation for his labor is less than the value added to the commodity production. There is no tension of interests where one side of the equation implicitly wants to maximize compensation and minimize productive hours, while the other implicitly wants the inverse. The relation to production is much more holistic for him, he decides how much he wants to do and how much he wants to earn, it's not dictated by the social relation known as capital. In this way he partakes in more of a C - M - C model, he provides a commodity/service, to acquire money, to acquire the commodities or services that he needs or desires. This is in contrast to the M - C - M' (or more accurately, M-C...P...-C'-M', where P is the value-forming process of productive labor, and C' and M' are more valuable commodities and money than C and M respectively), where the money is used to produce a commodity/service purely for the purpose of accumulating more money, such as paying someone to labor for you for a lower wage then the total value their labor adds to the commodity, thus making a profit. Anyway, I just thought it was interesting that despite his problematic choices in goods and services to supply and his interactions with his clientele, Kaiki really is just selling his own labor and expertise. It's a pretty good hint that there is more to him than he lets on, the honest liar that he is. Sorry if that went on a bit of a tangent with the simplified economics models. I type too much sometimes.

I have a feeling Caw is gonna love the ending of this season with how he's already resonating with Kaiki's themes

Yeah Araragi definitely doesn't have any attraction to his sisters.

something interesting to get out of all the fan service, other than just plot, is how Araragi treats each character when it comes to this kind of intimacy. Hachikuji being more of a joke and banter between them, brushing off sengoku completely, just playing into Kanbaru's usual jokes, we don't see much of Senjou and I like to think it's because Araragi is actually serious about his close moments with her and just refuses to show us or It's just classic ecchi bullshit of course. Shinobu is a whole other case that I don't feel like getting into rn.
