He went from "my princess" too "this girl is a demon" real quick. As Gigguk said when this released "irredeemable slut level". Supposedly Nadeko got redeemed in the new season but I haven't watched that so my Nadeko hate is as strong as ever. Glad that Caw didn't fall for her act.

2025-08-30 19:23:46 +0000 UTCAraragi would rather himself die than cause anyone else harm (that is the extent he values his life), but it starts become more complex for him when he has people that depend on him too. He is still looking at through the lens of others and does not really care that he could have died, but instead he weighs the harm his death would cause on others (Kanbaru) against the harm on the life of some boy he doesn't know. He realizes this once Kanbaru gets involved and naturally blames himself for her "sacrificing" herself (or mainly his own projected sense of justice) in order to "save" him. Araragi is such an interesting character that it is impossible to discuss without getting into spoilers (and even then there are a lot of different interpretations).

Because he values everyone above himself and feels it was his duty to either be strong enough that Kanbaru never had to get involved, or aware enough to realize him making the martyr choice would hurt Kanbaru terribly - at least that's how I read it.
