I worried about production quality with CW doing three shows this season but so far it’s been nothing but an improvement on the great work of S1. As usual, the fictional source mixes from several IRL sources. I see elements from Maid-sama, Ouran High School Host Club and Maria Watches Over Us. Each of the cosplay source stories have some bearing on Gojo and Marin's story. Some are metaphors of their state, some foreshadowing. In this arc it is very obvious. Koyomi serves as a metaphor for Gojo and Rei for Marin. Gojo is not feeling worthy yet and Marin is stymied at expressing her feelings in a believable way due to her past antics. Musings by Daenon did a video essay on it ,but I wouldn't watch it if you don't want to be spoiled as it covers the whole manga. If I were forced to make the very hard choice of a favorite arc of the manga, this one we’re starting would be it. You can already see the impact it will have on Gojo's growth and the hints about the direction Marin’s character arc will take.
